I notice early on it's easy to get steamrolled by boss animals wielding steamguns. If there's no lore reason for them to be so talented (a mad tinkerer attaching automatic guns to animals and setting them free??), can you clean a few of these out of the bestiary for us? Especially the snakes wielding weapons!
Cheers!

Get more armor.
A little bit of a starters guide written by yours truly here.

Kill them and they won't harm you.
(Alternatively) Do what I do: consider floors with a lot of steamgun using rares to be "stronger" than they actually are and come back to them slightly later.
Another option is to disable Orcs DLC while you're playing the main campaign. I personally enjoy defeating multiple Psyshot snakes but that's your best bet.

They're hard early if you're fighting them in the open or not closing the gap quick enough. Just use your movement and run behind a corner they'll have to walk around. Then you can shield/regen etc and walk around the corner and use your cc/gap closer on it and take them out quickly
please try not to be so condescending. I play on Madness.

Snakes with guns are goofy, sure, but the real lesson here is about inspecting enemy creatures, deciding what's dangerous, and how to move (or flee) on the battlefield.
