1.4.4 crashing on startup

So, just downloaded 1.4.4. However, I can't start the game - it freezes after clicking "Play" on the loader, after it has changed window size a bit but before going to fullscreen.

No log is created; the te4_log.txt is completely empty.

Running Windows 7 on a quite old computer (but not so old that should cause it). Have never had problems with tome starting on this comp until now.

EDIT: I guess it should be noted as someone on Reddit suggested the issue was addons, that this is without any addons at all installed, and the game crashes far before any addons would be loaded.

EDIT2: A complete clean install fixed it, it seems.
