Slasul DOA

#1 Post by eastwind »

Slasul somehow died before I got to him. I realized after I typed all this up that I'm running with the marson AWOL mod, among others, and that might make this report less interesting, but figured I'd submit anyway having already typed it.

I'm not sure whether the Temple of Creation is a static layout or not, having only been here this one time. Assuming so, I'll describe what happened.

I was working my way around the level on the left, with the golem ahead of me. I walked him through the narrow 2-square N/S corridor that's all the way to the east of the map and midway from north to south. As the golem went through the passage he hit a water jet, and then I got awarded the kill. I've retyped the game log (since I couldn't find it on disk or cut & paste it). The te4_log.txt file was empty.

Resting starts...
Rested for 10 turns (stop reason: all resources and life at maximum).

Character control switched to golem (servant of Boomba).
Talent Stone Touch is ready to use.
Talent Rune: Biting Gale is ready to use.

Golem (servant of Boomba) is caught by a water siphon!
Water siphon hits golem (servant of Boomba) for 30 physical damage.

Golem (servant of Boomba) triggers a water jet!
Water siphon hits golem (servant of Boomba) for 35 physical damage.
New Achievement: Destroyer of the creation!
A portal opens to the flooded cave.
You feel a surge of power as a powerful creature falls nearby.
Welcome to level 39 [Golem (servant of Boomba)].
Golem (servant of Boomba) has 2 stat point(s), 1 class talent point(s)
to spend. Press p to use them.
Welcome to level 39 [Boomba].
Boomba has 3 stat point(s), 1 class talent point(s), 1 generic talent point(s), 1 progigies point(s) to spend. Select Boomba in the party list and press G to use them.

Slasul left a pile of loot for me in the central area, and a portal, and there were about 5 other tridents laying around, with only one naga left alive for me to kill when I got there. I can't see why he died, there aren't any water jets that I could trigger that he might have stood on until dead. The spot where his loot pile was found was not even within sight of where my golem was when I got the message.

Unless my bombs were doing damage through stone walls, I don't see how I killed him/her/it.

Well recently my arcane eye saw a snake punch himself and nearly die in the process.

What happens is that some mobs in another room (Slasul room in your case) wake up and want to kill you. But they don't know where you are so they act as if confused. It allows them dumb things like hitting themselves or throwing AoE spells stupidly.

Since Slasul is in a different kind of faction than his guards just so that he's neutral to you, his guards can actually agro him with a single misplaced attack, thus a civil war happens. And as strong as Slasul is, the room is kinda full of hostile renegades at that point.

Thanks for the explanation. Although I'm still a little unclear on how a snake can punch himself - the lack of hands and arms would appear to be an impediment, but I suppose they can still throw a left hook if they go on a bender.

I'll accept that this is working as coded - wait, I meant designed. Working as designed, yeah that's it.
