Javelins
there are a few weapon types already in the game (swords, axes, maces, daggers, staffs, mindstars, bows, slings, tridents, whips).
however, there are no javelins.
1h main-hand weapon (allows you to use a shield, or if you are a reaver a second javelin?)
base damage: hmm, not op
damage mod: 30%dex 40%str
Mastery: exotic (cause what else? giving it its own mastery? or ranged? or weapon mastery?)
Apr: above average
---activate using 10 energy out of 40/40 to attack at range.--- (or should it be a talent instead of a charm? but how do you do that then?!)
deals 100% weapon damage as a ranged attack with a range 5.
works only with the weapon activating this ability.
this is primarily a close combat weapon, so it works with all "on melee hits" effects, but it can be also cast at range, if you can't catch your enemy, and again, using it at range still triggers on hit effects.
I think this weapon would work well with with classes like arcane blade.
honestly, when i first heard about skirmisher using a shield, i was sure he would have a javelin. then i remembered that javelins are not in the game.

before posting this, i made a quick forum scan, that revealed someone mentioning it a few years back.
http://forums.te4.org/viewtopic.php?f=3 ... it=javelin
however, it was rather inconclusive, with no arguments for or against or even an idea what the item would do. so, i decided to press "submit". Someone said there that "Egos already cover a lot of that ground"... but... uhm...
"of projection" can let you attack at distance every once in a while, but javelin let you shot few times in a row... i dunno someone pls help the idea.

Re: Javelins
Dammod is very weak for a two-hander.
Exotic Weapon Mastery makes it worse.
Falls into "awesome but impractical" probably, aside from, idk, GWF abuse?
Now if it extended all "attack" talents' range...

Re: Javelins
well, i made damage mod a bit lower, cause i didn't wanted to to be too powerful with the ability trigger things at range.
but if i made it TOO low, that's because i am not a master of balance. but its a 1 handed weapon that can only be held in main hand, like swords axes and maces, that don't have "great" in their names.
"Now if it extended all "attack" talents' range..."
uhm... its a javelin... not a spear... but if you think that makes sense...
but then there are skills like... hmm...
death dance is not a targeted ability so it wont count...
fearless cleave is more of a move talent, that then trigger an attack...
actually... aside from rogue's sweep there aren't any melee attacks like...
what about multi-hit talents that use 2 different items? like assault or brandish?
I don't think that's a good idea... but if you made it count as 2h weapon, even when its not... then you could use a talent like stunning blow with it, and with that bonus making 2h talents a ranged talents... it may be going to far for a new weapon type...
i think it would take an entire new class to go THAT far.
