Where in the world do I find one of these? empty rings I can sometimes run across... but never an amulet

They're rare. Amatathon always drops some, as the 100% failsafe. But have fun with that one.

The Room of Death, you mean? Hard to say. They're both brutal in very different ways. I'm inclined to say the Wyrms though.

As said above, the difficulty really depends on your character. Generally, I find Atamathon harder, because you can always flee from the wyrms, but Atamathon is just SO MOBILE. Plus, reflective skin and his already ridiculous damage output normally means a very short fight for your character (on Normal difficulty).
