How Addicted Are You?
I have noticed that there have not been many polls lately on how addicted people are to this game, so here is one. I must say that I am extremely addicted but if it were necessary I might be able to do without it.

I took a break to play some FFIII/Chrono Trigger and another, but now I'm back playing Hobbit Swordmasters, and having pretty good luck with them (no pun intended).
I'm mainly concerned with 1) Getting to clvl 50 (got to clvl 43 once, but then Ulik the Troll squashed me) and 2) Beating the stuffing out of Sauron and Morgoth.
That's what keeps me busy.

And it was such a good idea...

12 easy steps
I used to think I was a total ToME junkie; I played an absurd amount every day, and I could churn out a winning character in two, maybe three days if I put my mind to it.
Now I pretty much don't play the game anymore. I might run a character or two when ToME 3 comes out, but I'm otherwise off the wagon.
It's a wonderful diversion, but sooner or later, like all diversions, it begins to wear a little thin. So for all you people who think there's no hope, take heart; you can kick the habit
.
PS: I guess I should mention, just in case my current hiatus turns out to be permanent and I don't turn out to be on the forums again, that I hope for the best for ToME in the future, and I especially hope that you people enjoy my super-fun special levels in ToME 3 and Arda
. If there's anything that really requires my attention, I can still be reached at the address in my profile.

Addiction or Crutch?
I usually play tome when I'm waiting for a long compile to complete, or something like that. So some days I play it alot and other days I never get around to it.
I have to agree with Xandor, if I was to stop playing ToME it would be for what I consider classics in rpg; FFIII and Chronotrigger come to mind, to me the best thing about this game is the fact that if one type of char doesn't work for you there are literally hundreds of other char options, if I get bored playing one type, I move on to the next. In all reality I was looking for a game who's main "quest" was to become more powerful!

It's people like us that I'm hoping will be re-hooked with Arda.Lord Dimwit wrote: Now I pretty much don't play the game anymore. I might run a character or two when ToME 3 comes out, but I'm otherwise off the wagon.

it would seem that over 50% of the people who actually voted on this poll are moderately to extremely addicted, maybe there are those of you who wish to not vote, please vote, it is not earth shattering, but I would like to think that there are more than 13 people who are moderately to extremely addicted to this game.
Eyes burning, reaction rate diminished, vocabulary deteriorating...you have just been infected with the TOME addiction bug causing you to stay up to the wee hours of the morning playing this great game!

For me, addiction to *bands comes in cycles ...
About every 6 months to 2 years, I check out all the new variants and changes, and usually one of those is interesting enough to get my hooked again for some months of playing ... after this time (and much dying ...
) I usually turn away from *bands for a time, but sooner or later, the addiction kicks back in ... 'has been running that way for more than ten years ...
'Have to add, though, that the current state of addiction is probaly the worst ever ... ToME addiction is really hard to overcome ...
