Save issue after connecting the game to Steam

So... I started playing this game half a week ago, and yesterday i decided to buy the game. Today i connected my account to Steam and I started the game through Steam on my second computer (laptop), and all but one of my characters were gone, and the one that was left was level 21 instead of 31 (which it was last night). On the character page of my account, all the characters are there at their right levels. This is the lvl 31 character: http://te4.org/characters/124738/tome/0 ... 00ea2d4b6d

I do have the save files backed up on my stationary computer, but every time I copy them back in and start the game (on both computers), the level 31 character gets overwritten with the level 21 one, but the other characters stay. So what should I do to fix this? I have an idea, but I'm not sure if it'll work. If I log into the game and delete the level 21 character, then restart and copy in the level 31 save file, I might be able to use that character again, since the other characters didn't disappear. But I'm not sure it'll work since the characters might have the same ID, or something. So what should I do, will this work?
