Weeman, fierce Halfling Berserker (first time with no Vault)

#1 Post by Faeryan »

So, after a few zerker wins I thought about trying something a bit less cheesy and decided to go on without using items vault at all.

To better tell the story I should have recorded my thoughts along the way instead of now trying to remember back about what happened. But as they say, a picture will tell more than a thousand words, so here's the link: http://te4.org/characters/62644/tome/36 ... 27a540eba9

From the beginning everything was smooth sailing, especially since I had forgotten the Bloodied Berserker addon on, that gives Bloodthirst tree at birth, so instead of unlocking it at lv10 I unlocked Combat Veteran for HP regen. That was the magic word with my equipment as well, stacking HP regen and Healmod.
Around High Peak I had 40+ regular regen that after a few crits popped to 100+ which kept me quite nicely alive so that I didn't even have to pop Unstoppable too often.

Basically what I did was Rush and Stunning Blow. When Rush was cooling down I Movement Infused and hit peeps in the head. With Windblade from lv30 onwards everything started to become even easier than before.

Also I managed to score two deaths along the way - really embarrassing deaths because both times I got a bit too cocky. Both happened on what I call the easiest part of the game, the backup guardians. Nothing really scary there and about two full levels worth of XP there.
Kor's Fury unloaded some hexes and curses on me and I couldn't flee so I just had to die. Got him pretty low on HP though. After coming back I five turned him so it was nothing I couldn't have done the first time around.
Second death was with Corrupted Sand Wyrm. He started fleeing when I whacked him a few times and started digging through the earth. I had forgotten the tunnels still filled with sand on backup round so I followed him and when I had picked up the loot I noticed I was stuck. Spent like five minutes looking through my items and everything but couldn't do anything. Rod of Recall was still 12 turns short of fetching me up.

After that I had few close calls, mainly in the barracked area of the slime tunnel Pride, with the named elite orcs. Think they were mostly curses and hexes too, as were a few bad stair guardians, none of which I had to flee from.

To my surprise the slime tunnel bosses were flipped around in difficulty. The Forge-Giant Crusher was the toughest while Neverdead couldn't do anything but teleport away from me when down to 20% of her last life.

The sorcerors were the usual stuff. Not the easiest ones but nothing life threatening either. I rushed Elandar and Aeryn came to watch right next to me while Argoniel stood behind Aeryn doing nothing - at least it felt like neither of the two did nothing while I beated Elandar.
One thing of note there is that while Winblade is an awesome prodigy there's very little use for it in the final battle if you want to keep Aeryn alive.
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

Nicely done! Congrats. It's always hard to resist the temptation of the vault :p
