Version Selection

#1 Post by Planetus »

With the introduction of the Item Vault (for donators at least), going back to previous versions of the game is quite potent and I do it frequently (my largest cache of characters is in 1.0.4). With versions updating mostly automatically, though, it means you need to download the previous version as a separate download to get to those characters (I just downloaded 1.0.5 so I can transfer their items forward). It would be awesome if there were a dropdown menu on the main menu of all the versions that have been downloaded, so you could load up a character from a previous version from the main menu. Any chance of this happening?

Almost like the client automatically moving the 1.0.5 files, say, into an "Older Versions"folder, where it can be accessed, but doesn't get in the way?

I don't see why not, and anyone that doesn't like it should get a toggle against it.

Speaking of which, this would allow Steam users a way to launch previous versions on Steam. As of now Steam pretty much automatically updates you game, and although you can postpone updates, there's no way to revert the Steam version.

Actually, you can just press the show incompatible characters button in the load screen to access those older version characters.

It isn't advised. Hence, "incompatible". Bad things happen.

Its just a disclaimer that things might go wrong and that the management can't be sued etc...
