Do Alchemist Betrayals do anything for proto-Mindstar Users?

#1 Post by Deinos »

Hey all. I've searched a bunch of times for a clear answer to this question, and having a difficult time so doing.

Okay, so I'm trying to make a Mindstar using Cursed. And I had the fortune (?) to betray an alchemist.

Now I'm being offered Mindstar training. Question is, since the Ziguranth train it for you anyway, is there an actual effect from this? I seem to have read somewhere that it was "fixed" but unfortunately since information for ToME is so sparse and spread out I have no clue what this means.

So if I get Mindstar .8, then get full Ziguranth training... what happens? Should I take the Mindstar category, or just the psiblade talent? Thoughts?

This is probably a bit late to address the OP's question, but this issue may come up further.

Preemptively training one of the purchasable talent trees is now beneficial with 1.0.5. When first purchasing training, if you already have some mastery in the talent tree (0.8 from an escort quest, for example), you'll be able to train up to talent mastery 1.1 rather than 1.0. So you can end up with better mastery if you go in knowing something of the talent trees.
