As the title suggests, you cannot currently use Tooth of the Mouth to dig in anyway.
It cannot be used, nor does any sort of 'dig' talent show in the talents list.
I assume this is due to being put onto 'on carried' which doesn't properly give talents.

Tooth ought to give a free "Dig" talent while in your inventory.
Check 'm' screen for "Dig".
