Time Warden development advice (level 15), daggers or staff?
I just saved up 750 gp to pay for staff training, but in the process I found Umbral Razor and the Spellblaze Shard, both of which look pretty awesome and both of which boost my Magic stat (total +8 when wielding both).
When using rank 1 Flurry, this pair was able to deal over 400 damage, which seems like a lot to me (but perhaps that's just because I'm a noob). That's with nothing in dagger development, too: zero ranks in Dagger Mastery, no purchases in Dual Weapons, nothing.
The guide over in the spoilers section says to go with Staff for high-end, so I've been keeping that option open, but now that I see what these daggers can do I'm wondering what to do.
What should I do?

I recently did a TW run, and daggers is very viable. The thing is, you'll only be using them on bosses or rares most of the time, whereas you may very well use the staff to boost your spells a lot more.

Why not both? I thought time wardens get a talent that lets them switch weapon sets instantly?

Presumably he wants to keep a bow in one of the slots, as he's building an archer-style temporal warden with late-game magic focus.

Yep, he's built for Bows + ???, and I'm trying to figure out what to do for the ??? part.
(Was it dumb to go with Bows?)
Here's my guy's link:
http://te4.org/characters/52902/tome/2f ... c4c5f44bd7
Notably he's got a ring which gives him +10 spellpower, and he has the River's Fury trident which could give another +10 spellpower. The best staff he's found so far is rank 2 (+6 spellpower).
Basically I'm asking if it's going to remain viable to split my focus 3 ways: bows (mostly complete), support casting, and boss-killing focus damage with dual daggers. Are there late-game daggers which boost Magic and spellpower?

Bows are good, don't worry. there's also a very good late game magic dagger and a one-handed staff, although they don't give bonuses to temporal or physical damage.

Aaah, but that's what Temporal Form is for.jotwebe wrote:there's also a very good late game magic dagger and a one-handed staff, although they don't give bonuses to temporal or physical damage.

There are two one handed staffs so you could dual wield staffs.

Interesting. Using two one-handed staves sounds like an interesting endgame for a hybrid melee/caster, rather than a hybrid melee/archer. The idea is that you'd train up Staff Combat and pull the points out of Dagger Mastery once you get your two one-hand staves?
Is that a BETTER way to go than just training up daggers for a bow-focused Time Warden?
Sounds like daggers are not a trap option, so I'll just go with them for this game and see how things work out... unless someone disabuses me of that notion.
Thanks everyone!

It's just the one artifact one-handed staff for now, sadly. The next release will have one-handed "short" staves as an ego, though.
