discrepancy between stealth & shadowstrike & other questions

#1 Post by wobbly »

At low stealth levels everything seems to not only see me but also hit me. Yet despite the fact my target just hit me I rarely have trouble shadowstrike-ing it. Different checks? I've been unable to find anything in the wiki or forum on how stealth works either. If there's a guide to it somewhere & someone can point to it that'd be great, at the moment it's just confusing me.

Also in the mouse dream it seems the cats ignore you till they spot you but once they've spotted you will track you forever. Hide in Plain Site's description says targets tracking you will lose track. They don't seem to to me.

The extent of my knowledge is this: Do you still have your stealth buff? If yes, you can shadowstrike.
You can see how stealth works by watching stealth-using enemies (rogues, etc.).
They blink into sight when you win the see stealth check against them, but you have to beat that check again each turn in order to be able to spot them on that turn. The same things apply when you use stealth.

As for losing stealth, I think you only lose it when you perform an action other than moving (ex: attacking, infusions, skills). I'm not sure if there are other things that can de-stealth you, beside a level 5 arcane eye, which according to its description can mark you and take away your stealth bonus

Mouse dream is terrible

This I realise. What doesn't make sense is that I'm scoring criticals against things that "sees me" every turn I move & is guaranteed to hit me if I move next to it.

I also think stealth is come to be pretty useless. Investigate to it to escape from mages when played shadowblade, but they spam spells at my as I not in the hiden. And this is with maximized "stealth" skill level and with maximized cunning with same level mobs. Still, mob's stealth is realized pretty good )
