[1.0.0] Nubsie Pubsie the Thalore Arcane Blade

#1 Post by johnnyzero »

Nubsie Pubsie the level 50 Thalore Arcane Blade (Normal, Roguelike)

Yay, first win! I like arcane blades a lot and was finally able to win with one. I wanted to try out Trident of the Tides on an AB and was pleasantly surprised with the results.

Early on I used two weapons and pumped up Fiery+Shock Hands, Backstab, Arcane Feed, and threw one point in Arcane Destruction. I cleared out every dungeon and was able to secure the fortress early. Next, I put special emphasis on getting Guardian of the Wood to 5/5 and Nature's Pride to 1/5. This let me take on the Grand Corruptor and the rescue Melinda with confidence. Before I did Dreadfell I decided to hop in the Elven Ruins and received Wintertide for my efforts.

I was lucky with my escorts, although there was one poor escort who didn't make it. With two warrior escorts, I was able to pick up exotic weapons proficiency and later pump up the skill. Two alchemist escorts let me get crafty hands as my second prodigy, which made a huge difference when I actually imbued my equipment.

Initially, the Trident of the Tides seemed a bit underwhelming. I was putting out more damage with Wintertide + Spellblaze Shard and the Wintertide active hit like a truck. However, using the Freeze active on the trident in some critical situations let me appreciate the trident more. Things began to get silly once I equipped Fiery Choker for chain procs and 5/5'd more of my core talents. Towards the end of the game, I could activate Greater Weapon Focus, walk into a crowd, and one-shot a group of monsters with Windblade + a million procs. In the prides, the game would actually slow down noticeably when I would use Windblade -- a giant purple/blue/yellow burst would eventually come out of my character and everything around vaporized.

Once I hit level 50, I decided to lock in my equipment and finally imbued some gems into my gear. This let me hit 225% healing mod, making arcane reconstruction a full heal with a ~1400 damage shield on a spell crit. High peak was a breeze, and the sorcerers got absolutely stomped. Next up: Atamathon. After getting him to ~40% health, I realized why he was able to punch through my damage shields so easily. Oops. Swapped in dispersion gauntlets and that was the end of ol' supergolem.

Anyway, this character was a lot of fun. Arcane blades become absolute beasts towards the endgame. Windblade is awesome and is a blast to use with Arcane Destruction.

A no fire, no stone, no expanded weapon categories, Battle Tactics/Dirty Fighting heavy Arcane Blade winning on Roguelike.

I am grinning so hard right now at how far this class has come since I started playing. Congrats!

Congrats Johnny0

I'm going to try my hand at an arcane blade after my recent shadow blade bit the big one. You may be my unofficial guide :D
