Have items dropped inside a wall tile land on the stairs

#1 Post by Frumple »

As subject. Multiple times I've had drops from critters inside a wall (annoyingly, often a randunique who's probably toting really good loot.) just flat out disappear (Twice, I've literally dug out the entire bloody level looking for the drop, to no avail).

Considering how vaguely buggy the drops are now, landing often many tiles away from where the creature died, perhaps we can just have it land on the stairs down? Or up. Whatever's available.

The items never disappear, they get dumped elsewhere on the level. I think it may be random or wherever the enemy entered the wall from.

You probably autoexplored over the drop and didn't even realize it.

... nah. I dug out the entire level. On two separate occasions. And then turned on debug mode, made sure I could see everything, and then gave the whole level about the fifteenth go over, checking square by square for the farportal boss drop. If loot didn't entirely disappear, it landed outside the map's boundary where I couldn't get to it. Those occasions being with farportal bosses that guarantee an artifact drop, random or otherwise, which my inventory was entirely lacking. I was pretty thorough, because the items aren't supposed to disappear, and I suspected I ran into a bug. It's happened other times where I just said "bugger it." If the drop's not on any open tile nor stuck in a wall tile, and isn't on the map at all... it's gone.

Dropping the items either on the stairs or under your character would prevent stuff like that from happening, y'know?
