Ghouls' Endgame Conundrum

My Ghoul Reaver was fun to play and quite adept at fighting individuals and groups.

3 issues thwarted my endgame.

1. Race through fire.
I did not take into account the ghoul speed penalty, and ran out of time midway through charred scar. This failure opened up an interesting plot line on level 10 of high peak, where I undertook an epic battle with Aeryn that literally lasted over an hour.

2. Ghoul experience penalty.
Despite clearing all west and east, I was only level 44 at the top of high peak. After mixing it up some, I realized my chances were not good and managed to teleport onto one of the portals to the west. I went west in hopes of leveling up and returning to finish of the bosses.

3. Gates of Morning glitch?
Once back in the west the tower quest was not available, so I went back through Reknor, killed the boss, collected a second resonating diamond. But once back in the east I could not enter Gates of Morning, thus could not re-enter the west and activate the quests to level up. I went back to high peak at lvl 45, closed 4 portals, but was mercilessly put to death by the 2 bosses in the process.

I found only 4 Ghoul winners in archives--all of which made it to level 50. Perhaps I could have joined them if I returned to the west earlier by the conventional quest.
