The maximum mana cost per turn of Thunderstorm increases exponentially now, which does not seem intended. This is because the mana cost per hit increases with talent level, as well as the maximum number of hits per turn.
For example, at talent level 1.3, it can drain (1.5 mana per hit * 1 hit) 1.5 mana per turn, while at talent level 6.5 it can drain (7.5 mana per hit * 6 hits) 45 mana per turn.
This can be changed to be more similar to other sustains by changing the mana drain from 1.5 per raw talent level to 1.5.

Yeah but it's also exponential in power since the strikes are now radius 1 balls, so in big fights you get much more damage then advertised

Ooh, I like the sound of that. I'd experimented with Thunderstorm on a disruption shield build, hoping it would help me drain mana, and decided that it would likely be underwhelming. Particularly given the sustain cost and the investment of class points.
But, 7.5 mana per bolt, up to 6 bolts, and AoE? That actually sounds competitive with the the Fire tree in terms of heavy mana usage!
