Skeleton Wilders and Celestials

#1 Post by Canderel »

I am wondering... why can't skellies be wilders, but they can get the harmony tree and providence etc. from other places in the game?

With how the game is now I think undead Celestials could make sense (Celestials aren't divine anymore and I think this was a hold over from those days, heck liches use a lot of Anorithil spells). I can see Wilders not being able to be skeletons and ghouls though. The fact that they can't use infusions shows a lack of affinity with the natural world.

I think another reason is because various healing spells don't work on undead, or hurt undead instead of healing them.

I personally think the game should allow it but have the little message about how it doesn't really fit the theme.

2 parts as to why i ask: 1st is if skeletons can't be wilders or celestials then they shouldn't get the harmony tree or the celestial trees in game, meaning they could ala antimagic get a different reward for it.

2nd is i kinda would've liked a skeleton sun-paladin or wyrmic.

Skeletons shouldn't be able to be Wilders, or to take the Harmony tree. However, they should be able to be Celestial classes - those aren't divine, and they aren't weak to light like vampires or dreads are, so there's no thematic reason to bar them.

As an aside, Skeletons should be able to use the Blood of Life, since they can use alchemist potions.

You seemingly purposefully neglected to mention ghouls at all - what about them?

Now I'm picturing a ghoul summoner. That would end badly.

(Honestly, it might not be so bad, since you're tough, your speed penalty is less of an issue, and Ghoulish Leap covers one of the big disadvantages of summoners. Even with Retch, while it might be problematic, it occurs to me that Retch + Black Jelly would regenerate Equilibrium very quickly.)
