Every time I try to leave the Shadow Crypt, I get the world map up for a second, then the game crashes.

Fortunately there is a solution.
Before going out of the Shadow Crypt press Escape -> Graphic Mode -> change the tileset to ASCII.
That's a bug i noticed recently as i reached the far east only few days ago in beta 33 (not yet lost my character so i have not started beta 34).
Basically it happens only in the south part of the Far East continent, where there is the big desert and the chain of mountains.
If you play with the nice Stormbolt tileset in 32x32 , when you come out of an instance (Shadow Crypt, Orc party encounter or in the case i first noticed this bug, the Briargh lair) and appear again on the world map, the game will crash just before starting to save.
I don't find any error message in the .log unfortunately.
Now if before exiting to the world map you change the graphic mode tileset from Shockbolt to ASCII, the game will not crash when going back to the world map.
After that, once back to the main town , you can change in the graphic mode the tileset back to Shockbolt instead of ASCII.
But everytime you'll get back near the desert and its mountains, you will have to change back to ASCII before exiting a dungeon or orc party battle or the game will crash.
I don't know if it has been fixed in beta34 as i have not yet started to play it
