True, it makes sense to show XP amount in fly-out text, instead of currently where I believe it shows killshot-damage amount. On my ToME (Windows XP, 32-bit) I already see fly-out damage for most hits, is it the same with yours?
And the idea is to at least include these things as options, rather than just changing and forcing everyone to have it the same way - I know there will be some people who don't want the numbers and things flying all over the place but want it in the log, and others who want the opposite, so if they are all made optional then everyone can be happy

Another thing I would like to see as an option is a wow style breakdown of damage Along the lines of Elkan hits Skeleton Archer for 200 Physical, 150 Arcane (350 total) (90 Absorbed, 200 damage, 60 overkill)
And yes options are always good. As always some will love it, and some will hate it, but having the choice is wonderful.
A feature I would really like to see as an option would be for the message log to be shaded slightly in a two tone fashion every other player turn, so if you have a bunch of persistant AOE effects hitting multiple actors you can see exactly how much damage you were doing each turn, and more precisely see what happened when. Take the existing message log background for example, and add a slight whitish grey backdrop to every other turns events and it would make it much easier to break down turn by turn events as they occur
