Blood of Life
Hi,
Inspired by other posters I am having a crack at the Lost Soul Death Mold Sorcerer. I die alot but have got one to survive more than an hour.
I have just come accross the "Blood of Life" for the first time. What does this do? Is it an extra Life like in T4? So should I quaff it now?

Re: Blood of Life
yes. I believe it does exactly the same as T4's Blood
EDIT: wait. There's some vague memory of it killing any undead quaffing it, so I'm not sure if it's healthy for a lost soul. I could be wrong there though
EDIT2: according to the wiki, you should be safe quaffing it

Re: Blood of Life
Academic now anyway. I died before trying to drink it. I keep forgetting I can't move normally and hit a direction and end up somewhere I really don't want to be. Doh!
Re: Blood of Life
Shift-moving is your friend. Shift-move will keep moving down the direction you specified, until an interrupt (for instance, a monster comes into view) occurs.
EDIT: disregard, I forgot you was playing a Deathmold xD
I almost never move 'normally' with a Deathmold. I rather wait for the teleport to cooldown for every move.

Me too, and then for some inexplicable reason I decide "I'll just take a step to right..."martinuzz wrote:I almost never move 'normally' with a Deathmold. I rather wait for the teleport to cooldown for every move.

Race: Death Mold
Sub-Race: Lost Soul
Class: Mage
Subclass: Alchemist
If that still leaves you puzzled, note, that this is the Tome2 subforum, not Tome4

Re: Blood of Life
The Blood of Life gives you an extra life. Always quaff it immediately. I don't remember it having a bad effect on undead, but I don't play them that much. It certainly works for lost souls.
If you are having problems with a lost soul death mold, make sure that you are using ironman rooms. It makes it *much* easier.
Most of the nasty monsters are stuck inside vaults with permanent walls and you can use your powers to grab stuff from under them from outside. You can rest without having to worry as much about a troop of dread or a nightcrawler showing up and zapping you before you can move.
It can take some level scumming to find a low enough level monster nearby to kill to start gaining levels, but once you get up to level 10 or so it becomes pretty easy.

Re: Blood of Life
I remember jumping straight to level 35 or so as a Lost Soul Deathmold (sorcerer, I believe) when I eventually killed an eye druj as my first kill at level 1. I could barely regenerate mana fast enough to beat its healing as I blasted it from outside of its LoS, so you don't always need to wait for something near your level to kill.
Re: Blood of Life
Yeah a good "hocky stick" can work wonders. I usually fetch and ID a few wands to help with my first kill
Re: Blood of Life
I did the same thing with a Greater Q. In that case there were only two open spaces on the whole (small) level outside the vault. There was a pet of some kind in the vault, and so the Q tp'ed onto the spot next to me. It couldn't summon because there were no open spaces and it couldn't blink or tp anywhere else.lukep wrote:I remember jumping straight to level 35 or so as a Lost Soul Deathmold (sorcerer, I believe) when I eventually killed an eye druj as my first kill at level 1.
