Ice block

#1 Post by Tom »

Why are some talents 'green' and usable when you are inside an iceblock, but when you try them, they fizzle and do not work?
Wouldnt it be better if they are in gray or red?

I would vote grey as that is the colour that they normally are when unusable [but not on cooldown] anyway.

This should probably be in the 'bugs' or 'idea' forums, and not in spoilers.

Maybe, but from this point, if anyone wants to give me a hint, not.

I want to be spoiled.

I get iced now and then by the Shade.

* I have a green Regeneration Infusion that does not work.
* I have a green Phase Door that does nor work.
* The Shade brings down my health with some arcane spell.
* My Wild Infusion does not break down the ice.
* If I try to break free from the ice by hitting it, I risk killing myself.

HELP!!!
What is there to do?

Swing at the iceblock and pray you don't die before it breaks. Next time, bring stun resistance or a magic curing wild infusion. Mouse over the frozen debuff to see exactly what it does.

The killing yourself while trying to get free definitely strikes me as a bug. I've had it happen a few times and it's viciously annoying.

Magic-curing wild infusion is, imo, the key to beating many of the early bosses. The Shade, Wrathroot, Rantha. Mental is good for the minotaur. Basically, early game, I try to find a wild infusion that covers as many effects as possible.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

The last two I never have any problems with for some reason.
But the Shade with this buggy(?) iceblock is what makes my ToME experience less fun.

Thx for the tip on magic curing wild infusion.

Regen is supposed to work in an iceblock, I think...

Shield runes work in ice blocks. I almost always use an shield rune when I find myself in an ice block standing next to a random boss.

Slightly off topic: when you use a shield rune while frozen, doesn't the shield absorb the damage rather than the ice, and thus keep you frozen for longer? On the other hand, I guess if the damage is enough to break the ice, it may not be good to take 60% of it?

Not sure how the mechanics work, but I've noticed a marked improvement to my survival when I shield in an ice block.
