Extreme save times?

Extreme save times?
Started playing this game a few days ago and saves started off being about 10 seconds. Now saves are taking me several minutes to complete. Just a factor of having more data to save since I'm further in the game, or what?

Are you playing beta 18?
If so, try making saves not run in the background.

I am playing beta 18. Looked around the site a bit and couldn't find how to change that.

In the menu during gameplay - accessed by pressing escape - there are gameplay options. In that menu, there should be various options, one effecting weather you save in the background or not. If it isn't in gameplay options, it might be in video options.
