You met an half mad lumberjack fleeing a small village, rambling about untold horrors lurking there, slaughtering people.

You were sent to the Charred Scar at the heart of which lies a huge volcano. In the Age of Pyre it destroyed the old Sher'Tul ruins that stood there, absorbing much of their latent magic.
This place is still full of that power and the orcs intend to absorb this power using the Staff of Absorption!
Whatever their plan may be, they must be stopped at all cost.
The volcano is attacked by orcs, a few Sun Paladins made it there with you, they will hold the line at the cost of their lives to buy you some time.
Honor their sacrifice, do not let the orcs finish their work!

Sorry about all the junk Items in there to scroll through. I have enough dragonbone arrows to supply an army. I suppose that's because I slaughtered an army to get them heh.

This was my first victory and my second time getting to the blue wizards. I actually started the fight at lvl 46, but killing the ranged caster instantly got me level 50. I was going to wear both of my +18 resist all rings, but I decided at the last minute that I couldn't afford to have only 30% stun resist. If I hadn't decided to close all the portals first, i'm almost sure I could've saved Aeryn. I basically pinned the melee guy, and wailed away at the ranged one, activating my shields, wild, and regen once each. With her dead, I casually walked around closing the portals and taking random pot shots at the other wizard, just cause I could. I found he was basically only good for the support of his debuffs, especially with a skill like pinning shot (which I didn't use all game).

I actually found archer to be much easier than archmage, minus PD/inferno cheese. Scatter shot is just incredible, and critical shot is not too shabby either. I found Cuirass of the Thronesman really early, rendering me immune to physical more or less for a decent chunk of the game. I'm also a hoarder, so I didn't really use any non-infinite arrows until high peak, except when I meant physical immune things, then I had to get out my artifact bow (it has light damage) and equip some elemental arrows. Also, I maxed reeasemble shortly after getting to the far east, but I never used it once. I also had a ring of the dead, but I never got to find out if it works to revive skeletons or not. I actually had 2 of them at one point, but the game crashed (pretty sure it's on my end) and I lost that progress.

All in all I'm really excited about this, as I have never beat a roguelike before, and I was starting to get tired of running around scatter and critical shooting everything until it died. I'm super keen to start a melee character now, as I have been mostly too afraid to do so up till now.

Any comments on my build?

Ya, and that was my AOE attack. My Critical Shots sometimes got up above 2k. That light source really helped with that :D

Yup I sure do. I kept intending to get rid of it for something better, but I never really found anything that seemed worth forcing myself to think about encumbrance heh.

I think what really made this run go smoothly was the two 450 dmg shield runes i found in Paths and in Old Forest in a troll vault. Also a healing infusion for 450 dmg with a 6 second cooldown in he west is pretty sweet.

I'm carrying it in my inventory in case I run out of space, but I found this Girdle of the Calm Waters (+3 will, +20% res blight/nature/cold, +30% all healings) that's more helpful when dealing with meanies :D

I kinda like this whole rune/infusion thing, if you get lucky one of those can really make your life easy.
