Nastiest OOD monsters you've seen (beta8)
Can anyone top seeing (ahem, briefly) a maulotaur on level 1 of Amon Sul?

lvl 26 Master Vampire on Trollshaws(2). Arda became more dangerous without Sauron it seems )

IMO those are all worse than my cute little bunny...
I would propose that the trollshaws (and possibly all starting dungeons (ie amon sul too for now)) not have non-native monsters in them.

Re: Nastiest OOD monsters you've seen (beta8)
My level 4 Nandor rogue was surprised to see a pair of level 15 multi-hued drake hatchlings on level 3 of Trollshaws. They were sitting on top of 0.60 gold, so it felt like a mini-adventure right there. I stair danced my way out of it, but that reminded me how much stair dancing feels like cheating (probably because it is!). Are there any plans to remove stair dancing by having the game tick for other levels?
<DarkGod> lets say it's intended
Re: Nastiest OOD monsters you've seen (beta8)
stair-dancing isn't a guaranteed ass-save in T4 if that helps. I did that with on character and on returning, I found the same monster sitting right next to the stairs. It was its turn too, so it promptly killed me. Fair revenge I had to admit.
Re: Nastiest OOD monsters you've seen (beta8)
Not to mention the other level re-pops, and in this specific example I had my nearly dead rogue appear next to a stone troll and a fox. They nearly finished me off.

Not really nasty at all, but I did find a honey tree in amon sul. How a honey tree manages to grow there is a mystery for me....

I like to see the non-native monsters on occasion, but perhaps it should be cut back a bit. My first trip through the old forest seemed like a combination of amon sul and the maze instead.
Re: Nastiest OOD monsters you've seen (beta8)
I just got killed by a level 35 uruk-hai berserker on old forest 3... And I kinda like the non-native monsters.
Makes the old forest look like a combination of the trollshaws and moria combined.

Definitely more dangerous, but less likely to subside into boredom too. I like!
Re: Nastiest OOD monsters you've seen (beta8)
it just seems to me that if there are too many out of zone monsters, the zones will lose some of their uniqueness. not that I mind running into more jellies, bears and thieves in tol falas

It seems too much ?
I can increase the rarities a bit

You probably meant increase the rarity of the rarities?

Re: Nastiest OOD monsters you've seen (beta8)
yeah, in the first few games of the new beta that I played it seems like there were as many "out of zone" monsters as "in zone" monsters. I like the idea that someone mentioned in another thread about generating the occasional out of depth monster, since it would be more of a surprise to run into something a lot more powerful than it should be
