Re: Massive slowdown
I've gone through a couple of dungeons with the patch and haven't encountered slowdown of any sort - I'm quite amazed I must say.
About to do Dreadfell, so that'll be the big test :)

Re: Massive slowdown
The fix improves speed dramatically for me too, but CPU usage remains at 100% with or without it. Maybe that's a different bug.
Re: Massive slowdown
I just got some time and launched beta20 after making the change on the pre-init.lua file.darkgod wrote:Ok people who have lags can you please try that:
Edit the file game/loader/pre-init.lua and addat the top of itCode: Select all
collectgarbage("setpause",100) collectgarbage("setstepmul",400) collectgarbage("restart")
Then run the game and see how it feels
Using a level 13 archimage i explored Kor'Pul entirely and the change seems to make a very big difference as i didn't encountered a single slowdown.
Kor'Pul before this change had regular slowdowns. Seems this is THE fix to that stuttering/slowdown/lag very annoying issue.
great job !
Re: Massive slowdown
I played a long session tonight with beta21 in a single seating during which i cleaned both Trollmire and Kor'Pul successively .
Then i went in the new version of Derth with the bunch of invading monsters (difficult to avoid them coming 1 by 1 with the new town design) shooting lightning at my characters in the same time.
I'm happy to confirm now that i encountered absolutely no slowdown during this whole session.
Tome4 now is running very smoothly on my not so recent system, even when there's a bunch of enemies around with lots of floating damage message, fantastic job in fixing this major annoyance definitively !
