This one was really easy. It took 3 tries, but I got it on insane.

Antimagic is still good until far east, especially in dreadfall. Not the shield - mana clash and aura of silence. Most of the more dangerous undead seemed to have a mana bar, and the master is pretty pathetic when you mana clash him from 100%-0% mana instantly.

I skipped swl, daikara and halfling ruins because when I did them before I lost a bunch of lives (and I would've been 24 and didn't want to hit dark crypt that early), this way I only died twice to some random sawbutcher mobs. Went heavy on survivability, light on damage - not sure if this char is viable in the east, but I might try it. 4/5 in Ice Claw gave a 3 radius cone 233% weapon attack, psiblades let me focus on mainly using willpower as a stat for damage and taking oozemancer talents for the later damage.

I didn't really think cyclone being able to be range 10 really mattered TOO much. Frozen Core is pretty ridiculous - 3 points in it, 3 points in armor and I'm at 80 armor, 96% hardiness (also had 5 in ice armor, but that was "only" 18 armor).

Agile combatant's unhindered movement was crazy good for the stun resist, but I'm not sure it should've worked with heavy armor? Moss was extremely good - instant cast aoe, was able to use it as a heal vs a group or a pin to run away.

Honestly, Cyclone is only good in conjunction with Arc. With that combo, you can press one button to melee attack everyone on the screen at once.

Did it! In Insane this time (Insane/adventure) (seed: micbranned)

Eye of Winter and Eye of Summer carried me most of the time (dropped in Heart of the Gloom and Maze respectively),
only till dreadfell changed mindstars (for two uniques still, got pretty lucky :D )
With the Master i forgot i was in dreadfell 9 (was autoexploring, i know is risky but im kinda noob in insane) and found
him in one little room after exploring the whole level

@Nevuk
Unhindered Movements is supposed to work with any armor type. Only Nimble Defender (tier 4 talent) has the Leather or lighter requirement.

I'm actually working on an update for White Monk that I hope Micbran will merge into the contest once the kinks are worked out. It's almost there, but there were a couple of egregious balance issues that minmay pointed out which I'm in the process of fixing. Hope to have it up this weekend.

Last week, the dark crypt ate me. This week, I autoexplored the dark crypt, and was level 40 when I hit Dreadfell 9, so went and did a farportal. Lost the Blood of Life to a room with four rares+ with dart launchers (seriously, four random rogues in one room?!) and a necromancer taking me from 1200 life to zero with a couple of turns of bane of confusion in between. I lightning-speeded the hell out of there and came back at them through a wall, no problems.

For me, the best part about this week was the speed differentials. I had a permanent +102 movespeed%, plus boots of the hunter and lightning speed. With Channel Cold giving a -49% global speed malus, I was usually able to decide the terms of the flights, even while autoexploring.

I vote for something in a caster theme next week.

First time on Insane.

This weeks set was pretty strong. My first attempt Corcan died at 28 in Dredfell. My Dwarf that used no Dwarf racials beat the master at level 26. Go figure. I think that the difference was going dual shield instead of mindstars and taking Anti-Magic. Normally I don't like having to pass up arcane powered items, but Anti-Magic is really useful in Dredfell and I was struggling. Spent all of my lives before Dredfell and used up a Blood of Life in the middle of Dredfell. Still, I think I might actually be getting better at this game :P

I absolutely loved this one. Where the last one had little in the way of sustainability (at least for me), this week's felt stupid good. First attempt for this one, and I felt playing it from an anti-magic/resist style was definitely the way to go.

Now, to beat the game with this guy and prepare for insane difficulty for next week.
Yeah this one had like 3 forms of DR, don't worry minmay is cooking something up to fix that.

I would vote same difficulty or harder... and the mod skill trees were a bit unbalanced (esp. the ability to make the second Cyclone skill have a range of 10 for an extra category point).
I wouldn't really say that's the unbalanced part of the mod trees...

Doesn't sound very easy to me :P
Good to see people moving up difficulties though.

Just your luck, I think this weeks is sorta casterish.

What with the hammers and the lightning, maybe I should have named this guy Thor.

Hammeryeek destroys all he surveys. I ended up stacking category masteries, because I didn't want to unlock most of the options this week, and yet again adopted the 'speed is king' policy.

Character vault link here

Went for something a little different. Started off really badly due to rust (picked up a bunch of useless talents for no good reason and died to a rare like a chump). I decided to persevere though and once I remembered how to play, this build had so much mobility and pin/meatshield tools it ended up being relatively straightforward to beat dreadfell. I think I've had my fill of kiting for a while though!

This could just be extraordinary bad luck with the seeds, but I was poking around and couldn't get any character to generate the Temporal Combat tree. Is this deliberate?
