I am definitely against respec removal.

Nightmare retooling to adjust for lack of respec is the better answer, I agree-and if Hachem's tweaks to high levels of talent scaling are going in(and they seem to be), that may be enough of a nerf to Nightmare to justify it.

But simply setting a skill on cooldown(even if it's just a turn of cooldown, and only applied to active skills) is enough to prevent in-combat respec by and large-at worst, it make it a lot less powerful and a lot more of a tactical switch between dungeons thing at most.

And it's just way too useful of a way to get a trial period with a skill you've never tried before. Just knowing the stats is not enough for some of the more complex skills, really.

As to full respec options...as supermini said, it's something that would make the game much easier if abused, with some classes, at almost any cost. Some skills are a lot better early than later, and being able to make a full skillset of said skills and then respec it later is likely more powerful than casual few-point respecs for the average player, and certainly much easier.

I'm not necessarily against making the game easier, mind you. But there'd need to be a very real gameplay disadvantage-not annoyance, an actual, permanent loss-to truly balance it. Otherwise, it's a drop in game difficulty.
