Re: Dumb questions thread
How does LOS work then? Under what conditions can I see an enemy, yet they can't see me (besides stealth)?
Can I also ask why LOS is asymmetric? It seems unintuitive and colossally unfair.

Re: Dumb questions thread
If you can draw a line (like from talent use) from yourself to/through the target tile, without passing through a wall, you can see it. Example:
X = seen, .= not seen
You can see in a 90 degree arc (45 degrees each way) because any farther would run into the wall first.
The enemy can see into the start of the hallway, because a line from it to a point 20 tiles to the left and down one would pass through the character before hitting a wall.

So if those positions were reversed, the player would be able to see the enemy and the enemy wouldn't be able to see them?

Saves are never compatible between releases
[tome] joylove: You can't just release an expansion like one would release a Kraken XD

Where to gain XP?
Are all dungeons "state-saved"?
I remember old rouglike - I used to go up/down same level for a while to gain XP. (scumming/farming)
Anywhere I can do that in T4?

Re: Dumb questions thread
Not really - that sort of behaviour is expressly forbidden in ToME4. This is a game design choice to not reward or encourage monotonous behaviour in players. Also levelling up generally isn't that helpful in ToME, as the zones tend to level with you (to a limit). If you're struggling to get through somewhere then I doubt more xp would help.
Re: Dumb questions thread
You can farm adventurer parties, though, and convert the loot from those into fortress energy for farportal runs. That and higher level farportal runs approach self-sustaining (especially if you've got gem extraction running~).
So you can farm, with some effort. Only issue with that being that it will, most likely, eventually get you killed

How to recall back to dungeon?
My rod can recall me back to surface. But I've yet not been able to recall down again. I resort to auto-explor and climb down again. What am I missing?
Vaults - cool, dangerous, how to remember?
So - I love vaults. Deadly but nice loot & XP.
Some are evil, my lvl 25 archmage got fried by some greater multi hueded dragon lvl 50...
Q1: 25 lvls out of depth is... to much?
Q2: I figure many vaults are too dangerous and need to be skipped. But I'lld love to get back to them later. Any way to note/mark/remember where I skipped a vault?
(Thanks for this thread!! Quick and good answers.)

Re: Dumb questions thread
Recall only takes you out of dungeons, not back in. The idea is to use it at the end up your dungeon run so you don't have to walk all the way back.
Some vaults can be crazy, so always open with caution. There's no marker system, but I'd suggest that coming back later is not likely to be profitable - by the time you can take them on easily you'll have found better loot.

Re: Dumb questions thread
Gonna bum your dumb questions thread to ask a probably moot one
Been trying to download the newest version (183mb) for a few days now and can't get it to finish.. Ran virus scan, found and killed a trojan, restarted and still no justice
This could easily be my own crappy internet/laptop/luck causing it, espescially since I've seen no other people saying they've had trouble.. Was wondering if anyone has had trouble, and if theres a mirror anywhere.. Got the 'no music' version to "complete" once but it was less than half the file
Also, does the no music version still have sound effects, or no sounds at all??

Re: Dumb questions thread
Never heard of DL problems. Maybe the problem is with your provider.
The nomusic version has sound effects and it is *much* smaller. So it is probably the solution.
