[checks files] Looks like I have most of them, possibly all, in the old wiki format. Did you have something in mind for them?

Not really, other than that I feel they deserve to be available on the internet! Shame T2 doesn't have a wiki any more.

(Actually I might be able to host them if you'd be willing to let me. OTOH my ISP is notoriously unreliable, and I'm terrible with web stuff.)

Okay, update: Werrix is close to being kick-ass here. I got lucky (again) and snagged Eol's corpse, thought I would try it out since it's better than my Cyclops body.

I never knew it could be this awesome. A handsome array of ball spells, controlled teleport, and all kinds of nasty mid-level summons. And plenty of HP. (And Werrix now has depth perception!) I just discovered that since most of the ball spells take 1 mana, with regeneration I can be throwing acid balls ALL NIGHT LONG without pity. Werrix just did the stat-gain grind and then baller'd through the poisoned water quest and Nirnaeth, and now we're turning toward Mordor for some better gear and questing rewards. And I found a Cloak of Air, so the Void is getting closer by the minute.

Hmm, how off-topic would they be in the TE4 blog section? I had to set up a profile on the TE4 wiki to upload my T4 addons (as you can imagine, I've done half a dozen or so by now... ), and that apparently includes the ability to create blog entries.

I for one would love to see them back. Beorn was always one of my favorites of yours, and once Werrix is up to taking on Angband I might do one in the same style. For right now I've just been DitLing the main events, but something more in-depth would be good if Werrix turns out to be a winner.

Is there some legal/moral/other reason why we can't port some of the Tome 2 stuff over from the Wayback Machine, maybe a sub-wiki or something? Or does DarkGod want to keep it to just T4 stuff?

UPDATE:
UGH, I'm disgusted with myself. The RNG giveth, and the Fat-Fingered-Human-Moron taketh away.

Sting was up to level 37, with four realms and none of them Earth. Werrix was getting 12 blows/round and doing over 1100 damage per turn, and after swapping into a Brown Thunderlord body from a Princess quest we had over 1800 HP and permanent +20 speed, with 1-mana teleport and phase door, even when blinded/confused. He took on Saruman without batting an eye, and was plinking away with a stack of artifact bolts and a Heavy Crossbow of the Haradrim until things got close enough to feel the wrath of his blade. Sting made the whole mid-game easy, in a way that I rarely get to experience.

Cue the last couple levels of Mordor. Werrix had just finished a particularly nasty batch of Druj. I should have known something was about to go wrong when I got three quests in a row for Saruman, 11 Hand Druj, and 20 Eye Druj (scattered everywhere, a la Fumblefingers). The last batch was particularly nasty, and even with undead ESP it sucked. I had to resort to spamming my racial Breathe Fire attacks from just out of LOS to get the job done.

It wasn't the bloody Druj that made me scream, though. It was my own carelessness that forever ended my killing spree. I usually just use a stack of ID scrolls and have them inscribed {@r1} to make things easier, so ID-ing an object on the ground was "r1-a". On this trip, Saruman was kind enough to drop a Rod Tip of Perception and some nice hardware to attach it to, so I switched to that and ditched the scroll pile. My fingers, on the other hand, still remembered the "read scroll 1 at the floor" combination and decided to just go with that.

You can see where this is going. I step onto a pile of tasty loot, which includes a couple of rings and a scroll that I haven't come across before or that I haven't *ID*d yet. I had gotten hit with a memory loss spell earlier, so maybe it was that. Either way, it didn't get squelched by the automatizer.

An un-ID-ed scroll? Oh, let's just ID it... (r1-a)... There's no longer any scrolls by that number in my inventory... so it reads the one on the ground. Here's what I see next...

Code: Select all

A terrible black aura blasts your Small Sword 'Sting' (E:75482, L:37) (1d6) (+33,+19) (+3 to speed) {.}!
You see no more Scrolls of Curse Weapon.
Also, though not in-game...

Code: Select all

MasterShizzle points at his monitor and curses! <7x>
So I'm now the proud owner of a Shattered Small Sword (0d0) (-8, -5) {cursed}.

Zizzo, on the subject of DitL's of yours- I do believe you wrote the old DitL of a rogue trapper, which very likely inspired and ensured there was a whole traps category in the present ToME!

That DitL was always hilarious and inspiring to me.

*blink* Um… no, that wasn't me. I never could make any sense of trapping myself. I vaguely remember the DitL you're thinking of, though; I recall it involving some bizarrely convoluted plan to complete the Lothlorien Poisoned Water quest with potion traps of Detonations or something like that.

RE: Alchemist Archer

I'm Planning to make one however:

How do I get Archery As an Alchemist?

I worked out I can srat as a Wood Elf Alchemist, and that Gives me 4.0 Skill in archery, but no Multiplier, so Io cannot add any more points into it.

1) Is there a way I can start the game with a Multiplier in Archery?
2) or do I have to rely on Fumblefingers?

If you don't get a multiplier with a Wood Elf, then you are stuck with FF.

Getting enough quests early on that you can handle as an alchemist will be an interesting challenge. What will your offensive approach be until you can get Archery boosted?

Mushroom essence farming and a potion of detonations onto the 3 heads of a hydra got me off the starting blocks.

99 quests as a birth option. To hopefully get me a good archery modifier.

Farming essence of poison and making venom ammo to sell allowed me to farm a few items from the black market.

Only halfway into barrow downs and mr Funble Fingers has offered me archery! So at least I have a modifier on archery. I shalnt be dumping points into it yet until the modifier is slightly higher.

A dagger +17 +15 of venom of greater life (100%)
Wand of noxious cloud
Wand of manathrust

Doing ok so far.
Only had to use my staff of teleport once to escape a death sword, staff still has over 200 charges left!

Once you learn "power" and/or "might" you should be fine. Exploding venomous or lightning ammo should take out anything below level 30 or so.
