You unlock class groups for Embers by completing the internment camp quest. Three times unlocks all of them.
Yetis are unlocked by doing the mind control yetis quest, which requires you to find the yeti mind control unique helmet.
Whitehoofs are unlocked by killing Nektosh.
Wyrmic undead dragon category unlock by killing Ureslak. (It's magic based btw, ugh.)
Can't remember what unlocked Tinkers and Tinker escorts for the vanilla campaign. Beating Sunwall maybe? I think Psyshots are unlocked when you get your first Tinker to level 10.

What's that quest with yeti mind control helmlet? So far i was able to find only 3 unique yetis and bring their remains to the collective mind in the ruins, but was only rewarded with talents/stats etc.

There's a unique helmet that usually drops in the first couple dungeons that has to be used on 8 low health yetis. When you reach level 20, you can summon them. Don't think it can be recharged though. I've been doing the market before the yeti caves to increase my chances of finding it.
Because I've just run the orc starter enough to bring my total kills on orc-boss 1 to 10, and still haven't seen the yeti mind control helmet to even start Is it really supposed to be this random low chance?

It's certainly not a common drop. It took me...7-10? characters to get it to drop.
A quick look at a (possibly outdated) list of Boss Artifact drop rates suggests the most common drop rates are 25% and 35%. Missing a 25% chance 10 times has odds of 5.6%. A 35% chance is 1.3%.
10%: 34.9%.
20%: 10.7%
30%: 2.8%
If other people feel like contributing roughly how long to drop we can probably narrow down the drop rate. Or, in the time that it takes me to brush up on Baye's rule, someone can check the code. (but what's the fun in that? )
So looked at the source code. It's supposed to be a 30 percent drop, so practically, 92 percent of people will get it by the 7th attempt...
Which is really kind of huge given that there are only 3 new classes, so assuming a couple total fails: someone who just goes through the game once with each has a 17 percent chance of never seeing the quest.
