I've never had two orbs after the fight with him (except when I've got the fake orb).
The one Tannen drops is the original Orb as far as plot goes, its just that the code deletes the original orb when you give it to him/he steals it and the new one has a different quest trigger when you pick it up.
Just because the game says there is a new trade route, that doesn't mean said trade route wasn't opened by forcibly taking the Orb from you and making a copy or three first.
My preferred method of transporting multiple people through a farportal would be to place the Orb at the centre of the portal and trigger it and stand back.

i think the east would also improve alot in terms of game feeling if every boss (4 tribe bosses, orc mother, shadow crypt boss) would get a popup dialogue like the final bosses have - characterize them a little more imo - just a suggestion.
Those are good ideas, i agree, the Orcs Pride leaders are rather important characters, and having some kind of (even simple) announcement/dialogue would certainly increase the atmosphere like in the Sanctum battle.
Additionally, from the lore gathered they seem to hate each other, a nice touch could be them thanking your for killing their most hated colleague too.
I could imagine additionally those orc leaders having a special dialogue when the player character is of the same class as them, some kind of personnal challenge .
I really like the idea of the Pride leaders calling you out on your class. It'd be a nice little thing to include, I think.
In addition, perhaps an alternate (and far more spiteful) Slasul dialogue if your class is an elf? Considering why there are Naga in the first place, I don't think unjustified.
