Right, so wild higher level monsters have higher bases?

The base stays roughly the same but the Current is higher. I recommend looking at the base stats of a high level pet. It should still be under 20 on each base stat but the current can be 50 or higher.

Bahahaha! Tiny Geode (New Gems addon). Was controlling my pet, attempted to Wield/Wear.

Edit-------------

Apparently vermin (mice and possibly the whole sub category) don't gain levels. Got a level 3 mouse and I'm level 18.

I wasn't aware you could 'wield' gems like that?

As for stats, when the pet auto levels up to you, doesn't it gain stat points? If not, I can make it gain stat points to distribute.

Update!

You can now kennel your pets with the start of a new talent tree.

When you use the power, your active pet is stored away safely for later. You can then charm a new pet! You also get a new power that interacts with that specific kennel slot.

You get more kennel slots with the higher rating. You only need level 3 to get 2 slots. If you REALLY want 3 pets, put it to 5 and drop a cat point and you'll get 3 if you need 3 so desperately. Gotta catch em all!

To help keep the kennel slots separate, the icon of the kennel talent changes to match what beast is hiding inside. You can also mouse over them to see their name displayed.

If you use a kennel while you have a pet, they'll swap places, with your pet being kenneled in that slot, and the kenneled pet coming out to your side.

Have fun testing and playing!

Something just occurred to me... Minotaurs!

I don't know if anything's been fleshed out about their lore aside from the notes in the maze, but they could fit the Furrae addon rather nicely as a playable race.

Also, as a tribute to ToME's wardogs, how about a zebra race?

No, the mouse doesn't level up with you. I captured it while I was level 18 and it didn't automatically level up to 18 like animal categories. No stat points, no level up, no talent points. 0.

Well, the kennel idea is a good one. That'll help with checking pets. :D

You're not supposed to be able to wield gems but with DoctorNull's new gems, it apparently shows up as if you can equip it, then bugs.

That sounds like that addon's issue then? :D

I'll investigate the not leveling thing. Is that only with mice?

As far as I know it's only mice but then again I haven't tried slime/molds, dragons, insects, etc.

You know, Blackback seems very strong with their musk spray and aura. I always thought that the skunk would hose an area with the spray. The aura would be awesome if it had more range and possibly less damage. Of course that's my take on it. I find that while the wolf has spammable allies, the skunk seems to be the true tank. lol

Part of the reason they only got 3 powers. Is it overpowered?

Update:

You can now train your pet! Use the new talent in the animal training tree to impart new trees for the critter to learn. They will begin locked, but your pets now gain category points as they gain levels.

Pets found 'in the wild' will start with category points to spend, but less than if you trained them from a wee pup, so find good friends right away for the most training flexibility.

Great changes!

So far, my only issue is that the talent can make rare animal companions significantly worse by reducing their mastery. I had a berserker war bear's talent mastery go from 1.3 to .8 :(
