The place where people gather to organize witch hunts, talk about how much they hate magic, and be generally unpleasant to everyone who doesn't.

And yet there are mages!
when you take the test, you have to face a number of magic users, to prove you are worthy.

sooo.... those mages. where do they come from? are they just sitting in the storage, waiting to be thrown into the arena?
why are they not immediately exterminated? and some of them are a bit weird.
like, elemental? imp?

but what takes the cake among them, is the Orc corrupter.
not only, do they have an orc in there, BUT ALSO A CORRUPTER!!

there are plenty of skelleton mages, and they can go for dicara for a giant.
but where did THIS GUY come from?

So my real question is, "is there something they are not telling us?".

Mostly, I see Zigur as some ecoterrorist hippy group. That test, you think there was an orc corruptor in there but it was all mushrooms you see. Evil mushrooms that grow on the local oozemancer unwashed body, but mushrooms anyway.

Those mages are prisoner/gladiators/test subjects that they mistreat and keep around for training exercises. It really is dark, but not that much of a secret.

Obviously, what happens is, the player opts to take the test. Wringing their hands with fear and anger, depraved mages teleported at that very moment in with the blackest magics of the underworld in the hopes to strike you down before you become the terrible avenger they know you will be.

The actual Zigur test is much more wholesome and wondrous, but as usual, magic ruins everything.

Anyway, the orc just adds to the nonsense about how the public believes orcs are extinct, but you run into them all over the place.

well, you do, but they are mostly just scouts and assassins.
and all in dungeons.
except for dwarven dungeon, which is the source, and dredfell, which is their target, they are rather scarce too.
so chances are, you wont see any unless you are an adventurer yourself.
Also, considering their "new masters" thing, they are probably new to the continent, so people didn't have too much time to spread the news, assuming they even had any business in doing so since... you know, all those who survive, are adventurers.
and adventurers gather information, not spread them.

so general populace not knowing about them is not all that farfetched, except zigur...
