Tooltips could show estimated damage

#1 Post by Shaidyn »

A lot of my abilities say something like "Doing 123% damage". I also have equipment that increases my damage by a set amount, and a talent that decreases my damage by a set amount. I think it would be great if the tooltips estimated the range of damage I'd do on a strike. :)

Afaik this is not easily done because the code is written in such a way that you can't simulate a hit to calculate the values in advance

Yeah too many potential modifiers. I tried working it out once and cried.
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I'm not really looking for the estimate of damage against a specific target (I'm not worried about penetration and armour and reductions, etc), but rather just the range of damage based on weapon damage.

So if I have a weapon that does 10 to 20 fire damage, an attack that does 200% weapon damage, and a 10% fire damage buff, instead of a tooltip saying "Does 200% weapon damage", the tooltip says "22 to 44 damage". Something like that. (I don't know how the damage calculations work, but you get the idea).

It really won't tell you any more than 200% weapon damage does though.
