Saving to usb

So I wanted to experiment having a separate usb disk to have my home folder in. t-engine --home ../tomehome works. But it's excruciatingly slow.

It literally takes 1-3m to save 1-3mb. It's faster to save it to local hard drive, copy the whole home folder to USB stick, than it is to save a lvl 5 character's file (1 dungeon and arena in derth completed).

Surely lua and the virtual file system thing can't have that much overhead?
