Rej, the All-Knowing?

#1 Post by The Revanchist »

Probably should have taken that screenshot to help illustrate my point. I'm not invested enough in this to make a whole new Yeek again, though.

Anyway, with that pointless self-attack done, my suggestion/peeve. Anyone ever taken the Agent of the Arena quest from Rej in Derth? Who hasn't, really. Two free generics? Yes, please!

What strikes me as odd, though... Is that he knows what a Yeek is. I might have exact numbers off, but Rej doesn't appear to be too old. Probably in his early forties, halfway through a Cornac life... But the Yeeks have been gone some thousand years. And I don't know that the [spoiler] really has all that time for delving into the annals of history. Much less the wherewithal to instantly identify one.

My suggestion is, in a nutshell, to remove the part where he identifies you as a Yeek. Whatever we want to change it to.

Criticisms? Attacks on my logic that render my complaint invalid? Is Rej actually all-knowing?

If he truly is All-Knowing, he will call undead by their race name with the cloak on, seeing through their deception.

I cant honestly remember if he does or not.

Pretty sure he calls them Human. :(

But that'd be awesome!

He used to call them "Undead" before that bug was sadly patched away.

I think he mentioned he used to be an adventurer or something? So knowing what yeeks are isn't terribly far fetched.
Addons: Arcane Blade Tweaks, Fallen Race, Monk Class, Weapons Pack
Currently working on Elementals. It's a big project, so any help would be appreciated. :)

it isn't really too weird that he knows what yeeks are.
know from the slaver compound that yeachs(the way rejecting aquatic yeek subrace) are known in maj'eyal at least in less reputable circles, and their is the fact that mindslayers a class based on yeek mental training have leeched out to the world.

overall the existence of yeeks isn't really something everyone should know about but makes sense for them to be known in certain smaller circles such as among adventurers, slave traders, bloodsport enthusiasts, beach-goers, fishermen, mindslayers?, whatever its not a bug.

I am now going to leave in order contemplate how I just realized yeach's probably use the same mental techniques used to control slaves in the ring of blood for pimping whores.

Alright. I can accept this.

If it was a bug, it would be in a different board. :D

You didn't realize that already? At least (?) theirs' doesn't kill the recipient at the end! Whether it's an improvement is... subjective.
As a sidenote, it makes you wonder how willing some of the arena-fighters (the fodder, mostly) are... :?

eh as far as the arena fighters pretty sure most of them are probably the usual owed money to the wrong people type, with some game losers, and the occasional willing mercenary's and gladiators to mix things up.

you know thinking on the topic of yeach pimps makes me realize how flat most of the towns in game feel. I mean their more like shopping malls than places where people live. I seriously think irkkk is the only town with actual houses that aren't businesses (or a dungeon), and if you compare the rhaloren dungeon and shaloren town it looks like most of their race joined that crazy cult especially with the alternate rhaloren compound.

I can understand not wanting to make fantasy world suburbs but couldn't they just zoom the map in on a more markety area while leaving a bit of suburbs, houses, non-shop stuff and whatever along the edges so you know those areas exist without having to be told in text (looking at you last hope docks)

That would be a nice visual improvement. I support this change. :)
