Put the mini life bar above chars

#1 Post by ghostbuster »

Presently there is a mini life bar below the chars. While it may be esthetically slightly nicer at this position, it would be better in terms of gameplay to have this life bar above the chars. Especially when there is a fight behind some wall. The wall hides the lower part of the chars and, presently, the life bar, and you have to mouse over the chars to have an idea of their actual life.

Is that a huge issue? :)

I wouldn't mind an option, though. Say, in General, "Healthbar below creature", with Enabled and Disabled. Or on/off. Turning it off/disabled then proceeding to move the healthbar above the creature.

While we're talking here, perhaps give Solipsist actors a second bar for Psi? And/or an Archmage with the shield spell a Minimana bar?

Yeah, the bottom is no good any more. Walls are totally a problem. Also, in previous versions the mini lifebar was rendered ABOVE the icon, but now it's rendered UNDER the icon so for some critters the lifebar is useless even when there are no walls.

One issue with putting it above is that some icons are bigger than one tile. Maybe put the lifebar on the side as a vertical bar, decreasing UPWARDS so you can see the little red segment at the TOP when they're close to dead?
Check out my addons: Nullpack (classes), Null Tweaks (items & talents), and New Gems fork.

How about actor representing the amount of HP he has left? Certain color slightly transparent haze on top of the avatar. Yellowish below 50% and reddish when really lie on HP.
These levels could be tweakable so that you'd see the color for example when it's time to swallow the load.
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.
