Make phase door runes instant use
At the moment phase door runes get completely sidelined by a low range teleport rune. The teleport rune ensures safety, the phase door rune can get you in a worse position.
One way to make it tactically very different from a teleport is to make it instant use. Thus it could be used to reposition oneself in battle, giving time to react to whatever situation it puts you in. It also wouldn't be put on cooldown by stuns. It would suddenly become a very interesting rune indeed, instead of one that is entirely ignored as soon as a teleport is found.

I support this. This was brought up in another discussion (probably in IRC) a little while ago, and was generally well-received.

That is excellent, but I suggest something else too: if they still have no min teleport distance, perhaps that could be set to 2 too? It's just...sad when you phase to an adjacent square

A minimum range on them would be nice too. Even a minimum range of 3 would insure you move at least one tile away from all adjacent enemies (assuming there's someplace in range to go anyway). A minimum range of 5 might be nice though, simply because my brain likes multiples of 5.

My suggestion is granting the out of phase buff automagically when phasing from runes.

If you want to be really fun, you could make multiple egos for Phase Door specifically.
No Runes use suffixes for egos that I'm aware of, so there could be Phase Door specific suffixes.
"of Distance"-Minimum (2-4) teleport range, teleports a third higher range.
"of Speed"-Instant.
"of Phasing"-Grants phase bonuses to Defense/Resistances on use.
"of Direction"-Rare, grants a very large fuzz radius controlled phase door(6-10 fuzz radius). (I like how L1 Dream Walk works, so sue me.

Yes yes yes yes yes. Also, I really like SageAcrin's idea (both specifically and as a general guideline for inscription egos).

Made instant, min-range 3. Totes support.
Still wouldn't mind seeing the multiple-phase thing (being able to activate the PD rune multiple times before it goes on cooldown), possibly as part of the level progression.

I'm in favor of the egos idea. if phase door is instant AND has a minimum range, it's suddenly powerful the whole game (and frequently better than the phase door skill, even leveled). So try both ideas out, but separate them.

Not sure about extra egos. That could cause a dilution issue.

I agree that dilution could be a problem, but what's wrong with multiple instant inscriptions? Presumably so many are instant because it makes them practical; same logic applies here.

Well currently phase runes are just boring. They get completely ignored after teleport runes are found. If they're not improved they should just be cut.
