Brawler combo counter

#1 Post by Xerxes »

Here's my suggestion: A combo points bar or other visible indicator

Currently when a Brawler has a combo, one has to mouse over the combo effect in order to tell how many combo points they have (the number displayed over the combo effect is the time until the combo expires, not the amount of combo points). This information doesn't seem to be available through any means other than the mouse-over text of the combo effect

Attached is a screenshot showing the mouse-over text for the combo effect. Notice that the number over the effect icon shows the time left, 4 turns, and the mouse-over box shows that it's a 2 combo (2 combo points, for the purpose of skills that use combo points). The hover-box for the player character (not pictured in the screenshot) also in this case shows "combo(4)".

Slightly confusing, so I suggest that there be a bar, or maybe just box that shows the number of combo points in it that stays visible on the screen similar to resource bars (mana, health, stamina, vim, etc.).

Don't make it a resource. Instead, status effects that can have stacks on them (ex. combo, spellpower on crit, stalk) have an additional number in the top left corner to indicate the number of stacks.

I think that a resource meter would be excellent. I can follow the comparison to other stacking timed effects, but in this case a resource meter really does make sense, considering they act much like the usual resources.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

I think combo points need to be made more useful first. Currently they seem like an underdeveloped mechanic.
