I can't figure out how it's done, but my ambuscade gets all set bonuses I've ever equipped.
Switching talents while ambuscade is active provides bonuses to character, occurs with heightened senses, charm mastery (all cd's are 0), and probably more I haven't tested or that don't show up on tooltips.
Also, just some extra information, I've been playing on insane, and flexible combat (the extra unarmed strikes prodigy) is pretty overpowered (applying on hit effects and getting the brawler glove bonuses). It feels almost required as one of the prodigies for melee classes.

Re: [1.0] more shadowblade/ambuscade bugs
Some more information on this, as I've seen all of these bugs also:
1: I've seen ambuscade proc the Crystal focus/Crystal Heart set bonus when it's not equiped. Overall, with all the set bonuses and perhaps other things it shouldn't be having, near end game ambuscade will be doing a few hundred percent of your damage instead of the two thirds it should be doing. There was a boss in a Naga invasion portal that the Shadowblade just tickled gently and had to retreat, but the ambuscade handily ripped apart.
2: Due to the switching talents while in ambuscade bug, have a Shadowblade with 108 infravision, 0 energy use/cd on items. Example of how this is broken: Infinite vampires from choker of dread.
3: From the prodigies I've tested (which is most), flexible combat outshines all of the others for any melee (particularly any of the rogues). It gives you well over 50% damage boost per hit (increasing with the amount of random on-hit dmg not from weapons you have).
