Not quite, there are I think 2 other songs. The lost merchant quest music (hard rock guitar music), and the ancient elven ruins music (harp music).PureQuestion wrote:All the music is, actually.

What's the license? Can other people use them as well?darkgod wrote:With his permission and awareness

They are CC attribution no commercial. Something like that IIRC.
But obviously if you use them all in conjunction the ToME project won't be too happy. We spent a fair bit of time sorting through songs, deciding what will fit the setting etc. But the license is the license. I remember me creating music for Tome way back when, and I heard it on another *band I played. I had mixed feelings. I contributed it to ToME (admittedly the music wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either), and then it was "snatched" by another band. I dunno... Anyway, so just in terms of the spirit of what I said is that the collection of music has been carefully considered and compiled, and to just compy it willy nilly because it's less effort than doing it yourself will not be appreciated.
I personally also emailed the other authors (not the Celestial project) to get their permissions, so they are aware of the game. Anyway, I've said my part. Hope I didn't come accross too strong.

Nah, don't worry. I'm not one to copy others blindly.Canderel wrote:They are CC attribution no commercial. Something like that IIRC.

In fact, I may end up getting a few custom pieces of soundtrack (connections in the indie scene, hehe), but I need to get off my lazy dev butt and finish coding first.

I contacted matti and even sent him a donation because he deserves it

CC-NC -licence?
Isn't ToME commercial once it's in Steam? You should check your licences - and if need be, get a specific license (As in: "The Author specifically allowes the use in the ToME project." or something.)
(Yes, Free Software can be commercial. You can sell it. But it's still Free - as in Freedom.)

The question still remains... Is Darkgod a fan???
We may never know. The truth is out there.

My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.
Re: Is Darkgod a fan of Celestial Aeon Project?
No. But we can always speculate. He has used their music and contacted them...HousePet wrote:We may never know. The truth is out there.
Btw. If someone uses the score (selection) picked for the ToME project, they should in the least comply with the ToME license. The selection is covered with copyright, so to use it you need to comply with the license.

Look, I'm all for "not stealing" and "not copying blindly", especially since it would involve stealing from someone I deeply respect, but I think this would be over the top.outolumo wrote:Btw. First, the ToME license is GPLv3, which is probably one of the most restrictive SW licenses in the world. Second, although I don't doubt that people have put a lot of work into selecting fitting pieces of music, I'm not sure the product of that work is covered by copyright. Third, if it's already licensed under CC-whatever, you can't just re-license it under a more restrictive license and demand that everyone obey your license instead.
