[b41] Yeek Wayist is AWOL

#1 Post by Parcae2 »

Twice now, I've had the Yeek Wayist just not spawn when I try to rescue him from Subject Z. I open the door and he isn't there. What's going on with this?

It happened to me to.

I reverted to a earlier save and the Yeek was there the next time I visited that level.

Had this myself just now. I used precognition before opening the door for a trial run at the fight, and he wasn't there in the trial run nor the real thing.

I can't say if this the problem every single time, but as near as I can tell, there are at least a few ways to trigger the two fighting before you open the door.

For me, I had a Doomed whose Shadows popped across the wall when I was moving towards the door, and the Yeek was dead before I could reach the door due to that. Precognition might trigger the fight in a similar way.

I played a anti-magic Cursed and had no divination or scouting abilities.

Also I'm reasonably certain, having gone through that fight many times, that Subject Z is in his starting location. If he had killed the wayist, he would probably have moved to do so.

Having gotten to that point again on yet another character, I can confirm that the wayist disappearance is 100%. Z is always in the same place, the Wayist is never there. I've tried on a Doomed, a Corrupter and a summonless Necro, and possibly one or two others I'm forgetting. Prior to this beta, the Wayist was always there; in this beta, he never is. It's clearly a bug.

OK, I may need to eat those words. As per suggestions in #tome, I made a cheater archmage and teleported him to the appropriate level, then scouted with arcane eye. The Wayist was there.

I have no idea what's going on. With the Doomed, yeah, maybe his shadows triggered the encounter (although I would call that a bug in itself). But the Corrupter?

Edit: Oh. I see.

I took one step with the archmage, and the Wayist was promptly poisoned by one of the new poison gas traps. That's what's been happening, and also why not everyone experiences it.

Man, - poison gas traps. Who could possibly have thought those were a good idea?

Making poison gas trap only trigger once stepped on would help with the wayist issue. I'd also like to see this trap, if it was changed like this, (and explosive trap) effect monsters.
