[b41] Unlimited Blade Works (infinite attack speed build)
http://te4.org/characters/8893/tome/cd6 ... e83198eeb7
Ingredients to attaining infinite effective attack speed:
1. Momentum for +84% attack speed
2. Eden's Guile for +30% global speed, resulting in a normal attack that requires 1/1.84/1.3= 42% of a turn to execute
3. Bloodcaller
4. A lot of on-hit damage (this character does 11 hits per bump attack). Optional: throw in Greater Weapon Focus for even more hits.
5. Ancestral Life
The result is that every 42% of a turn, I have a 1-0.85^11 = 83% chance for Bloodcaller to trigger and get me 60% of a turn as long as I remove the regeneration effect each time. This amounts to me getting back more turns than I spend, thus allowing me to attack indefinitely without interruption. Once I activate Eden's Guile and Momentum, I can effectively kill anything in less than one turn. Throw in Step Up, and I can basically kill any number of enemies under one turn, as long as they are within 10 tiles of each other. I tested my math on Rantha, the Chronolith Twins, and the Greater Mummy Lord; all of them died before they were able to act. While Unlimited Blade Works has not yet reached the East, he could probably kill Atamathon and both of the final bosses in under one turn, even at level 21.
I was actually surprised this abuse wasn't accounted for when the ability to remove beneficial effects was implemented, seeing as how Dekar even warned about it way back when. Oh well, I guess in the meanwhile I'll have fun attacking so fast that time itself can't catch up.

I suspected this would be possible but I can't be bothered to keep removing buffs for the sake of an exploit. Probably the easiest fix would be to change Fungal Growth:
1 - Give a regen effect with another name which doesn't proc Ancestral Life.
2 - OR only proc regens off Infusion:Healing, Healing Light, Nature's Touch, Sudden Growth and Arcane Reconstruction.
P.S. - If anyone is making changes to Fungal Growth please make it able to roll-over itself kinda like poison works.

Too bad skullcleaver and Fiery Choker are arcane powered, that would just be even more OP though...
If you want more turns, try getting waters of life while you are poisoned (assuming that you move forward in time...), or healing nexus on an enemy with damage affinity (foo is healed by the fire damage!) to one of your damage types.
One question: is anscestral life giving you 60% of a player turn, or 60% of a game turn? (EDIT: nvm. It's a game turn.)
IMO, the simplest fix would be to move anscestral life's effect to infusions and talents, but that would be time consuming and prone to breaking.

You could use them with a wyrmic. Not sure how well it would work but you can certainly do it.lukep wrote:Too bad skullcleaver and Fiery Choker are arcane powered, that would just be even more OP though...

Wow, I didn't realize that you could get Fungus without Antimagic. Time to try to build a char with skullcleaver to replace bloodcaller and the on-hit damage from parts 3 and 4 (but it will be better, because it is a 100% chance), and get the fiery choker to gain a part-turn every time I'm hit by fire damage.PureQuestion wrote:You could use [fiery choker and skullcleaver] with a wyrmic. ...and I called *that* one a bit earlier in the thread that you linked. Heh.
Also worth noting that the wyrmic has easy access to the harmony tree, which is a speed source. It might not work quite as well, though - wyrmics aren't going to want to stack the cunning to really make Eden's Guile go, and where do you get the momentum from?

Re: [b41] Unlimited Blade Works (infinite attack speed build
Yeah, Wyrmics could use Skullcleaver/Elemental Harmony instead of Bloodcaller/Momentum/Blinding Speed and achieve infinite attack speed that way, but then you don't have access to Step Up which is the difference between killing one enemy instantly, and killing an entire crowd instantly.

Momentum is a skill available to the Rogue metaclass, and Temporal Wardens.
I linked Dekar and not you because he was the one who mentioned Bloodcaller, which is what opens up this tactic to every non-spellcasting class, while you were saying it would be a niche abuse. And I know you're just kidding, but I saw this coming long before either of you posted anything about it (as did many others, I'm sure), so there.Sirrocco wrote:...and I called *that* one a bit earlier in the thread that you linked. Yuo don't really need momentum. It's just overkill...Sirrocco wrote:and where do you get the momentum from?
With Ancestral Life, Bloodcaller, and a multi elemental attack (there's a ton of ways to get this), you might get away with unlimited attacks with as little as 150% global speed.
Like I said before, just fix Fungal Growth and Ancestral Life will still be quite handy for nearly instant regenerations.

Re: [b41] Unlimited Blade Works (infinite attack speed build
Darkgod already committed a fix for this (and also many other problems):
Arcane Shield and Fungal Growth will only trigger off major healing effects, so your life drains and firey choker heals won't do it in b42.

Haha, really didnt expect it to give you infinite energy no matter how bad you abuse it.
