How do you handle the Alchemist quests?

#1 Post by Parcae »

I've been reading on this forum how the Alchemist quests work in a pretty counterintuitive manner, because you can clear the only dungeon where an ingredient drops and it won't drop unless you already have the quest. How do you fine folks get around this problem? Do you just pick up all the quests early on and fulfill them as you go? Does that prevent shops from offering good late-game items?

... you kill adventurer parties, run farportals, or abuse the ruined dungeon's trick, if you're going to try to get the alchie quests done pre-east.

If you're boss rushing, i.e. not fully exploring every level, you'll usually leave a few critters behind in dungeons you've already completed and can go back for those.

As for the item thing, shops only update when you first enter the shop itself, not the town. You can do the alchie quests without ever entering a shop, if you're feeling frisky. Starting the quests early (definitely before level 12, if you can, just in case you can avoid the Derth attack in the process) is generally a good idea, though.

What is the ruined dungeon trick?

Do the shop items quality depend on what level you are when you first enter the shop?

You get random monsters if you press the wrong orb.

Yes. Within the material range limits defined for the town, and within the character level range defined for the town.

Oh I used to run all towns right after the starter dungeons to see what infusions and runes I could get...

Does one part always fail if you complete enother? Should one start only one alchemist quest at a time? Completing them quickly does not seem to help... does completing them all before going back to the first alchemist?

As far as I understood, completing a potion yourself always completes a random potion of another alchemist. So going for the max number of potions risks the final reward.

Also it seems there is an autosafe after the competition potion is created but before you get yours, I had the game crash after handing it in once, was surprised to actually reload there and even more so when i found 2 red lines after handing in my stuff.

What do you mean by 'final reward'? is there some bigger reward than the individual potions? I've only ever gotten maybe one potion completed before dying, so..
