Ghouls (of any kind) are difficult to fight well as a summoner, their leap gets them across the battle lines, letting them bypass your defences. Snow giant boulder throwers are also up there, it's difficult to get near them with their huge knockback and its AoE.

EDIT: also, groups of ghouls all using Retch are very hard to kill, with both the AoE damage, and healing.

Code: Select all

[talents] = {
  [T_LIGHTNING] = 7
  [T_ATTACK] = 1
  [T_LIFE_TAP] = 6
  [T_FLAMESHOCK] = 6

  [T_ACID_STRIKE] = 6
  [T_FREEZE] = 6
  [T_MANA_POOL] = 4
  [T_DISPERSE_MAGIC] = 6
  [T_CORRUPTED_STRENGTH] = 7
  [T_DRAIN] = 7
  [T_PHASE_DOOR] = 13
  [T_BARRIER] = 4
  [T_CATALEPSY] = 6
  [T_TELEPORT] = 6
  [T_DISPLACEMENT_SHIELD] = 6
  [T_ARCANE_POWER] = 13
  [T_PROBABILITY_TRAVEL] = 6
  [T_RESTORATION] = 6
  [T_WEAPON_COMBAT] = 25
  [T_TIME_PRISON] = 6
  [T_HEAL] = 6
  [T_FIREBEAM] = 4
  [T_CORROSIVE_VAPOUR] = 6
  [T_POSITIVE_POOL] = 1
  [T_HEALING_LIGHT] = 4
  [T_VIM_POOL] = 1
  [T_REGENERATION] = 6
  [T_STONE_WALL] = 6
  [T_FLAME] = 7
  [T_CHANT_OF_FORTITUDE] = 4
  [T_PROVIDENCE] = 4
  [T_TRAP_DETECTION] = 6
  [T_REND] = 7
}
A character of a different class probably could have beaten it, but it would still have been a difficult battle. This was a cool ending for my character, though 8)
What XP lvl was she?
I just encountered a unique luminous horror in Dreadfall and remembering this post I decided that it was time to call quits.

Epoch for Time Warden. All the rest of Uniques are random, but Epoch is always present after PM unlock. The biggest problem is that playing field is very small, and with some obstacle configurations there is no place for cooldown/heal. For now it's just pure luck for me - with fortunate field it's possible to win, with unfortunate - not.

Archers are painful and even a non-elite one takes away like half of my hp if I face it in a fair fight!

High level dragons are also scary.

He he. Right.
Lucky they are so stupid.
As soon I see (or hear) those arrows coming in penetrating my fragile little body I sneak around a corner.
(Movement infusion in a bad case scenario)
Then they always follow.

I just slogged through an ocean of ice giants with my summoner in Daikara, and I have to agree. Between knockback, confusion, and the occasional earth elemental, I was about to snap. Still, it wasn't too difficult, seeing as how I could send out waves of hydras and dragons, and then use jellies and infusions to keep me topped off. I should really learn how to play a more challenging class.

I haven't gotten too far, just far enough to know to hold onto any belts and amulets that give stun/freeze resistance. I always underestimate the Shade.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

Can I mention the GMHWs in the "32 chambers" vault? Grrrrr... ran into this vault twice in Dreadfell since being able to. The GMHWs there always handed me my ass quickly and efficiently, no matter how hard I tried to stay alive. Perma-died the first time I seen it because the "get me back to the worldmap!" option at Eidy hadn't been implemented yet. Second time (current char) died twice to them but managed to get away. Grrrrr....
Having satellite internet is a lot like relying on the processes described in those RFC's for your internet. Except, instead of needing to worry about statues interrupting your connection, this time you worry about the weather. I have satellite internet. Fun, no?

I only have one life to play with, so I teleported out as soon I saw two of them. In my case it was Elder Multi Hued Wyrms.
Not sure which one is worse, but I did not stay to find out.

They're the same deal, and it isn't so much that there's two of them, it's that there's two of them with very little space to hide from the second, and that they have at least 30 levels on you as well.

I met a lvl 103 GMHW yesterday. It was evil. How evil? It liked to take cover behind hatchlings. :roll: The big, bad dragon used babies as "human" shields! How evil isn't that?

A headless horror who is immune to physical, arcane, and blight damage is quite annoying to fight. My most hated enemies are skeleton master archers. They deal so much damage. :(

This. I couldn't figure out why all of my summons were lasting one turn, max, in the ruined halfling complex. Can't believe I didn't die to one, and I'm sure I would have if I didn't have so many meatshields.

I was in one of the prides in a new vault, and out walks an elite headless horror. 100% resist light, 100% resist darkness, and 90% resist all!!!! with about 3000 HPs. Guess my class? An Anorithil, with no firebeam and lvl 1 Totality!!

So I did a shadow simulcrum against it, and presto, due to a bug I think, more critters are summoned. This happens every time. So eventually, I just had to use totality and smash away for ever! Got it eventually.

Ouch.

My skeleton archer refuses to die.
He even has his reassemble intact.

Now I just fought the Boss and the mirrored image of myself and that archer together with the boss was a tough nut to crack.
On the brink of death I finally caught them both but it was way to close for bad nerves.

Hee, that fight is fun. Good strategy is to hammer on the boss until the screwy "run away" AI behaviour kicks in, then just blast away at your clone while putting a pillar between you and the boss. Most of the time the boss will hide behind the pillar for you, but he'll occasionally do a Soul Rot or something before running away again.
