Character poofed in exploration mode on restart as same character and a power failure

My character disappeared after beating final bosses, clicked restart as same character but had a power failure which caused my PC to crash and now I have no character.

So there I was merrily killing the final bosses of the game in exploration mode (ya i die a lot, also didn't know you could close the 4 portals at the time either) and after killing all the bosses my character ended up perma dying. Sigh. Anyways, i clicked restart with same character and it took forever to do anything, finally heard music but screen was all black except for the game curser. Game crashes and now I have no character when I try and load the game. How do I fix this?

If you haven't already, review the Help! My Saves keep not working thread - you appear to have a similar difficulty, so maybe the measures listed there will be of help.

There is no save file for that character at all. Its just gone. I can only see the character when i look at my characters on the online profile website.

TOME savegames are stored in %USERPROFILE%\T-Engine\4.0\tome\save\ with the main save file called "game.teag" (try a search for this if you can't find the file by other means) and zones you've previous visited stored in filenames ending in .teaz.

I don't have any file folder like that for that specific character. I have them for my other 4 characters but not for Panthur. The only files for her are in the Vault folder which just has character.teac and desc.lua.

Check for a "game.teag.tmp" file then (plus any other .tmp files in the save folder) - these are intermediate files created during a save and, if present, suggest a problem with savegames on your system. If a game.teag.tmp file is present for your character, then renaming it to remove the .tmp extension may allow it to be loaded.

The TMP folder is empty and the only mention of anything .tmp is in the walls of text in 4 log files. My character seems to have vanished

In that case, sorry to hear that - but check the linked thread above anyway, since it provides information on file versioning software (Aphar backup specifically) which can ensure you always have backup copies of your game files.
