Actually, I wasn't getting any kind of error reports (popping up) when it was crashing. I know at least once, it crashed while saving. It got to 100% and just froze. And after about a minute the game just closed out, no error pop up error. I admit I didn't have the time to go through the logs and check for an error yesterday. I'll have more time today though. At least the saves were still loading.. I hope that's still the case when I try it out again today haha.
Oh and for Aphar, I do recall now you telling me to check the time stamp on "last updated". Oops. I was not doing that.

I might still be looking in the wrong spot, I'm not seeing a "last updated" time stamp, but I do see a "modified" timestamp.. unfortunately these are all the same across the board. Thursday, November 6, 2025, 12:41:01 PM

"Modified" is the one to check (I'm using an alternative to Windows Explorer which describes this field as "Updated"). I would expect this to vary, so check the Aphar Backup window - this should mention every time a copy is made or updated - again, don't close this window (using the X button at top right) since that will shut down Aphar Backup completely, just minimise it (you should see a green tick icon in the system tray when Aphar Backup is running).
If game saves in TOME result in a progress bar reaching (and staying at) 100%, that might indicate a .tmp file has been created, so check for one of those - it may be loadable if the .tmp extension is removed.

Sorry for the delayed updates. I vastly overestimated the amount of free time I would have yesterday and today.
I did try playing today for about 15 minutes (15 minutes, so far, I hope to get some more time to try and troubleshoot what's going on... but even more than that I want to make some progress in game). You were right about the save freezing at 100% and the .tmp correlation. I tried deleting the .tmp from the game file unfortunately that did not work. I loaded up ingame up to 100% and then the game did that weird freeze where I cannot close it without using the task manager. Fortunately, I was able to steal a save from the Aphar back up saves and played from there.
The game is still crashing, it's not giving me any pop up error logs in-game now. I looked at the last_log.txt and am not sure why it's doing what it's doing I found the word "error" twice.. Hope this means something to you.

Welp.... Getting the WerFault.exe deal again when ToME is crashing.. I ran the sfc /scannow and it said "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."
Ran DSIM earlier.. and that was having some issues (seemed to just not be able to access the online files for whatever reason) so ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth... and that wasn't working so I had to run 3-4 other deals to get that to finally go through... And it went through correctly.
I can play ToME.... but it's just such a struggle. I have crashes every 5-20 minutes... and if a save corrupts I have to make sure Aphar was running in back ground AND then I have to edit said save so move the folder so it can load up at all ... Man, I'm so frustrated... feeling defeated. This is the end of week 3 of trying to make this work and I feel like I haven't made any progress. *Sigh* Level 5 and just crashing left and right...

According to that log, a game was saved successfully before the error so I can't identify anything there - however without timestamps on each line I can't tell if this is from one game or two.
One thing that may be worth trying - disable TOME's online functions (in game press Esc, then Game Options/Online/Disable Online Features) and see if that makes any difference.
If you find Aphar isn't working for you then another option could be to use RoboCopy - see here for full details of the options available, scroll down to the "Monitoring backups" section for instructions on setting up a timed copy (also check this article on setting it up via Task Scheduler). This will only keep one savegame backup though, unlike Aphar, but you can use multiple folders, detailed at the bottom of this StackOverFlow article, to work around this.

You know, without time stamps I'm not sure if that was 2 crashes or not.. either.. It was up the the top of the log... and there was no errors anywhere else. I guess it's possibly the game was closed without any errors in the game, right? Like it was my PC closing it not something with the game? Hmm.. I've added ToME and Aphar to the exceptions list on my anti-virus.
Aphar IS working.. it's just kind of obnoxious having to use it. ToME is crashing too frequently and at this point I have no idea why... I had temporarily alleviated the issues for like 2 days the first time I fixed the werfault.exe error. Made it the furthest I'd gotten at level ... 24? I forget now. but that was nice. Had I had Aphar installed then... it would have saved me some grief. Mind you I've played the beginning portion of the game so much now I'm playing on the easiest settings so I'm able to unlock some new stuff to try and it's .. not terribly fun.
I understand I'll lose characters on the harder settings to death and I'm okay with that... but the thought of losing characters to death and crashes/bugged saves ... well I'm not confident I'll get past level 15 again.
I'm not giving up yet... was just in a slump yesterday. I'll try to get some errors that might have something productive whether from PC logs or from ToME.

I haven't seen a Lua error in forever now. I crashed about 20x just playing through the Old Forest. The only thing the Processing Monitor saw that was weird was the indexing function - so I repaired the index and it did nothing to help. (search protocol host invalid parameter)
Anywho not every crashed bricked a save, I think about 5 were broken. luckily? I was still able to complete the zone due to Aphar Backup.
This was the last crash, when I went to Derth. - I'll see if disconnecting the game from online services helps at all tomorrow. **Edit** (Later today, fell asleep for a bit, didn't realize the time)

Was this using the "\T-Engine\4.0\tome\save\" Image Path filter suggested above? If so, then try disabling indexing completely, since it could conceivably interfere with the save process (by locking intermediate files while processing them). Yes, it was with using the filter you posted. How would I do that? Keep it from accessing the save folders?
