[1.6.1] Random map stuck generating after boss dead

I went into the strange portal, went down to lvl 3, killed the boss and then went back to lvl 2 for some reason.
Now the game gets stuck trying to generate unlimited bosses on trying to enter lvl 3 again.
Basically it tries to make a bunch of bosses, then reaches the end and goes 'WARNING: Guardian not found' and starts recreating the level.
