Stuck in Santascape

Hello,

So i completed the santascape as a yeek oozemancer. I defeated Nikolas, the Dwarven Paddlestriker, however after doing so i never got the special space that would allow me to leave the area. This may have been because i never left the treelines, and just killed him from afar. But alas, since the rod of recall still fizzles I am stuck in the 3rd area of Santascape.

Any way i could assistance to escape without losing the ability to continue to gain achievements/etc?
